Virtual – March Cultural Meeting

March 7, 2021 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

“Armchair Traveler: Architectural Gems of Boston and Cambridge”
Hearkening back to colonial-era roots on twisted and narrow streets, and juxtaposed
against some of the most futuristic and international of buildings, Boston and
Cambridge offers a myriad of architectural styles and gems to please every taste. In
our exploration of the city, we’ll even look at a few buildings with Scandinavian
connections. Please join us for this armchair lecture on local architecture, to whet our
appetites for the day when we can walk and explore the city more freely.

Presenter: Robert [Rob] C. Anderson
Rob is a professor of art and architectural history, having taught in 2019 at the Hong
Kong campus of the Savannah College of Art and Design, and is now currently
adjuncting at the Boston Architectural College, Endicott College, Brandeis University,
and the University of Maine. He has an MA in History and Theory from the
Architectural Association, in London, and completed his PhD with Tilburg University,
in the Netherlands, which focused on issues of authenticity pertaining to the
reconstruction of Norwegian stave churches and other historic sites, both traditional
and modern. He is a trained artist and designer, and has traveled extensively
throughout Europe and Asia. Dr. Anderson is a 2007 Fulbright Scholar to Poland and
Russia, a 2018 recipient of the Boston Society of Architects Excellence in Teaching
