At the cultural meeting on Sunday, March 5th, we will hear from Elsa Comiskey about the tradition of bunads from the different ‘fylker’ in Norway and look at how each county developed its own unique style.
Elsa Comiskey was born in Løten, a small village in Norway. Afrter finishing Hamar Katedralskole, Elsa moved to the U.S. in 1961. She continiued her education in the U.S. and received her M.Ed and worked with international students at Northeastern University. Later on, Elsa worked for a modeling agency in Boston. Knitting and hiking in the mountains are two of her favorite activities.
If you have a bunad, please wear it to the meeting. If yours has shrunk from hanging in the closet too long since you last wore it, bring it to show.
