Northfield Mountain Hike
July 29, 2018
Nourish your Nordic roots by hiking up Northfield Mountain in Central Mass, a moderately easy 1250’ mountain. Team Norumbega is planning this hike for July 29 (Sunday). Northfield Mountain is a moderate hike through diverse terrain and vegetation, as well as through geologically interesting areas. There are fine viewpoints along the way. We should picnic at the summit or at some especially enjoyable spot along the way. The total distance of the recommended route is 5 miles, but we can vary it to suit the group.
This is an all-ages event of Norumbega Lodge and is suitable for children accompanied by parents. Miles logged can be applied toward the Sons of Norway sports medal for walking.
Northfield Mountain is an hour west of route 495, just off Route 2 in Northfield, between the Quabbin Reservoir and the Connecticut River. We should get there by 9:00. We can plan car-pooling when we have a group made up. I will send info on what to wear and to bring.
